Basics
What are privacy screen strips?
privacy screen strips are interlocked in horizontal rows of a twin-wire mesh fence. They reduce transparency and enable different colors, structures and patterns.
Which fences are suitable for privacy screen strips?
Most zaun|zu® strips are intended for commercial twin-wire mesh panels. Decisive are the free row height and the details of the specific product.
What do 6/5/6 and 8/6/8 mean?
The numbers indicate the diameter of the horizontal and vertical bars in millimetres. They do not indicate the required height of the privacy screen strips.
Can an existing fence be subsequently equipped with privacy screening?
A suitable twin-wire mesh fence can usually be fitted afterwards. Condition, attachment and the additional wind stress should be checked beforehand.
Which privacy screen strips fit my twin-wire mesh fence?
The key factors are the clear row height, the fence-panel width and the strip system you choose. Formats around 190 mm are common for classic twin-wire mesh panels; zaun|zu® also offers various partial and special formats. Before choosing, compare the dimensions of your existing fence with the specifications of the relevant product.
Compare products →Plan requirements with the calculator →What width or height of privacy screen strip do I need?
For a classic row, the standard format of around 190 mm is common. There are also HALBE at around 95 mm, DRITTEL at around 63 mm, VIERTEL at around 47 mm and MAXI at around 240 mm. Not every size suits every installation or is available in every product family, so compare the row height with the product specifications.
View formats and weaving patterns →Are privacy screen strips opaque?
Closed privacy screen strips can greatly reduce visibility through the fence. The actual level of privacy depends on factors such as material, surface, colour, weaving pattern, gaps and product type. GELOCHT is intentionally more open in appearance than fully closed strips, so a blanket claim of 100 percent opacity would not be appropriate.
Planning & Quantity
How much privacy screening do I need?
The amount results from occupied rows, cutting length per field and number of fields. The privacy screen strips calculator supports the planning.
Determine requirements with the computer →How do I calculate the required length?
Multiply the number of rows occupied with the cutting length per field and the number of the same fields. Gates, corners and shortened fields must be taken into account separately.
How many rows does my fence have?
Count the horizontal spaces that are actually to be occupied. The number of rows depends on mat height and construction.
Which roll length makes sense?
Compare the calculated total length and planned cuts with the roll lengths of the specific product. Different field widths can influence the use of a roll.
How much allowance is required?
The necessary addition depends on field measurement, completion and product. The zaun|zu® calculator takes 5 cm into account as a planning aid per strip; before cutting the actual dimensions must be checked.
What is the difference between roll goods and single strips?
Individual strips are pre-cut to a specific length. Rolls allow flexible cutting and can be useful for several fence panels or differing panel dimensions. Which option is more suitable depends on the fence dimensions, product and planning; neither rolls nor individual strips are inherently better, cheaper or higher quality.
Calculate material requirements →Assembly
How are privacy screen strips interlocked?
Take the strip alternately in front of and behind the vertical bars through a horizontal row. Avoid kinks and secure the ends according to product and assembly instructions.
Assembly step by step →Do you need fastening clips?
Whether clips are provided or recommended depends on the product and installation situation. Use only the appropriate fixtures for the selected system.
Can you shorten privacy screen strips?
Many strips can be cut with suitable tool. Note material, cutting edge and the particulars of the specific product.
Which mesh patterns are possible?
In addition to even rows, offset rhythms and combinations of partial formats are possible. Format, braiding rhythm and secure completion must fit together.
Compare mesh patterns →Can you combine colors?
Yes, colors can be combined in series or within a series. Check the available colors and plan the rhythm before mounting.
What should be considered with narrow stripes?
Half, third and quarter share an approximately 190 mm high row. The selected part heights, the braid rhythm and the fastening must fit together.
Can I install privacy screen strips myself?
Many systems can be woven into suitable twin-wire mesh panels without specialist machinery. Accurate measuring, clean cutting, the correct weaving method and securing the ends in accordance with the relevant product instructions are important.
Installation step by step →Materials
What materials are there?
Depending on the product family, the product range includes polypropylene strips and textile nonwoven solutions made of PET. Material, strength and assembly instructions stand on the concrete product.
Compare Materials →What distinguishes PP and design nonwovens from PET?
PP strips are shape-stable plastic strips with product-dependent surfaces. Design fleece has a textile appearance; processing and fastening may differ.
What distinguishes PREMIUM and RILLE?
PREMIUM looks smooth and restrained, RILLE has a visible longitudinal structure. Technical data and available colors are to be compared for the concrete design.
What are the characteristics of RATTAN?
RATTAN refers to a zaun|zu® product family with braided optics. For material, dimensions, care and warranty, the details of the concrete execution are decisive.
Formats & Design
Which heights are there at zaun|zu®?
The range includes 190 mm standard height, HALBE with about 95 mm, DRITTEL with about 63 mm, VIERTEL with about 47 mm and MAXI with about 240 mm. Availability depends on the product family.
How can partial formats fill a series?
A row approximately 190 mm high can be filled with one full strip, two HALBE strips, three DRITTEL strips or four VIERTEL strips. Suitable combinations such as VIERTEL–HALBE–VIERTEL are also possible.
What are accent strips?
Narrower stripes form a row or set a color accent. They are combined with other formats to match the row division.
What effect do perforated stripes have?
GELOCHT combines graphical perforations with the strip surface. The partially open effect depends on the perforation image and the environment.
Are individual motifs and labels possible?
Individual motifs and labels can be checked depending on the material, quantity and technical release. There is no flat-rate availability for all markets.
Can I combine different widths and formats?
Yes, provided the row division, format and fastening method are compatible. Possible layouts for a row around 190 mm high include two HALBE, three DRITTEL, four VIERTEL or the combination VIERTEL–HALBE–VIERTEL. The available formats and instructions for the relevant product remain decisive.
Compare weaving patterns →Maintenance & Durability
Are privacy screen strips UV resistant?
For the relevant zaun|zu® product families, UV resistance or defined colour-stability claims are among the stated product properties. Their scope, conditions and any warranty are product-specific; there is no blanket warranty for the entire range.
Warranty and usage information →How are privacy screen strips cleaned?
Gently remove loose dirt and select suitable aids for the material. Aggressive chemicals and scrubbing tools can damage surfaces.
What should be considered in case of storm and wind?
privacy screening changes the wind attack area of the fence. Fence, posts, foundations and fortifications must be suitable for the site; there is no general storm guarantee.
Read usage information →Are hail damage covered by the guarantee?
External influences such as hail, storm, shock or vandalism can cause damage. They are not covered by a product guarantee; the concrete explanation is decisive.
Read the instructions for use →Warranty & Quality
Which warranty periods apply?
PREMIUM, RILLE, DELUX/DELUX-R and directional arrows have 5 years of guaranteed colour fastness. Nonwoven/Design Nonwoven, RATTAN and accessories have a 2-year warranty. The scope, conditions and exclusions in the warranty statement for the specific product apply.
Are warranty and legal warranty the same?
No. A voluntary product guarantee is based on its declaration and must be distinguished from statutory warranty rights. Scope and exclusions must be considered separately.
